Browns Secure Myles Garrett with Historic $204 Million Extension

Former Texas A&M star Myles Garrett has agreed to a record-breaking four-year, $204 million contract extension with the Cleveland Browns, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The deal includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money and will keep the elite edge rusher in Cleveland through 2030.

This extension comes just weeks after Garrett publicly requested a trade, stating his desire to pursue a Super Bowl championship.

In February, Garrett had expressed that his career goals didn't include going from "Cleveland to Canton," directly contradicting a statement made by Browns general manager Andrew Berry.

The 29-year-old's new contract includes a no-trade clause, $100 million in cash over the first three years, annual workout bonuses, and substantial guarantees.

According to NFL.com's Tom Pelissero, the deal features $88.8 million in execution guarantees and $122.8 million in total guarantees.

Garrett has established himself as one of the NFL's premier defensive players since being drafted from Texas A&M, where he recorded 32.5 sacks in three collegiate seasons.

In his eight NFL seasons, he has accumulated impressive stats: 352 total tackles, 102.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and a touchdown. He currently ranks 38th on the NFL's all-time sack leaders list.

Despite the Browns' struggle last season with a 3-14 record and limited playoff success during his tenure, Garrett has now committed his future to Cleveland, seemingly abandoning his trade request in favor of financial security and potentially an improved team outlook.
